Auld Reekie National Trust House
In May 2013, Lancaster Painters Australia were hired to repair and reconstruct the painting, decorating and artistic work to the dining room ceiling, cornices and walls above the picture railing of Auld Reekie that had been water damaged. We sensitively cleaned all the water damaged areas including the artwork centrepiece on the ceiling to remove all grease, grime and water damage stain. Once clean and dry, we took paint scrapings of each individual colour in order to analyse them to successfully match the original colours. Cracks, holes and indentations were filled and rubbed down to a smooth finish prior to repainting the ceiling and cornices using the original paint system. We then hand painted the original decoration and design to the cornices and mouldings to match the original in colour, texture and design. The artistic centrepiece was also reconstructed to match the original in colour, texture and design. For more information about Auld Reekie including photos of the works, click here.
